Ridwaan is a Professional Senior Architectural Technologist of South African Indian origin who grew up in south of Johannesburg. He obtained a National Diploma in Architecture from the Technikon Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1993. During a career in the field of architecture spanning more than 20 years, he has worked for several Johannesburg-based architectural offices on a variety of projects, including health care, commercial and residential work, mosques, schools, on the international and domestic terminals at OR Tambo International Airport, and the Constitutional Court building in Johannesburg. Ridwaan has fulfilled the role of Project Architect for the International Terminal Refurbishment for ACSA and Maintenance on Prestige Projects for Public Works.

Other works include the Rea Vaya Joburg Bus Rapid Transit, Mary Fitzgerald Square Upgrade, Diepsloot Public Environment Upgrade and the Ellis Park Southern Gateway Upgrade projects for Johannesburg Development Agency as well as the New Intermodal Facilities in Tembisa for Prasa Cres and various projects for Vaal University of Technology.
